VON KARMAN INSTITUTE FOR FLUID DYNAMICS
A visit of the specific laboratories which would interest pilots like us!
The von Karman Institute is a Belgian non-profit, international training and research institute specializing in the sectors of aeronautical dynamics and fluid mechanics.
Around ten countries from Western Europe, Central Europe and North America take part in the institute’s activities.
The IVK offers post-graduate training and in this context carries out high-tech research in fluid dynamics. Students from various NATO countries undergo post-academic training there.
The von Karman Institute has three departments: aeronautics and aerospace, turbomachinery and propulsion, applied fluid dynamics and environmental
Theodore von Kármán, born May 11, 1881 – May 6, 1963, was a Hungarian and American engineer and physicist specializing in aeronautics in the founding years of 1940 to 1960. He was the first director of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory from 1938 to 1944.
